Near Portland, the Columbia river between Portland and Bonneville Dam is probably best. You can get steelhead in the Deschutes, John Day, Sandy, and Clackamas rivers. Salmon are caught right in Portland, especially in the Selwood Bridge area in the Willamette river. All of these places are sometimes pretty slow, so you can’t count on catching fish every day.
