Depends on how heavy the cover you will be fishing…?
If your flipping and casting in matted weeds, lily pads, rip-rap wood structure, and around dock pilings I would suggest you use either 17LB Mono or Flurocarbon OR Power Pro 10/40 Braid with a leader of 17LB flurocarbon as a leader.
For spinning?
Again, this depends on where you will generally be fishing…?
If your in open water with very little obstructions go with 8-10LB Mono or Flurocarbon. If your in a very weedy area try 12LB Mono/Fluro OR Power Pro Braid 6/20.
Most spinning reels come with 2 spools. A good idea is to line your extra spool with a different weight line so you can be prepared for most anything.
Hope this helps? Good luck catching.
I like berkley fireline cause you see your line, extremely durable, and you could feel any strikes. Fireline is a braided line which mean that your pretty much fishing with wire. Because its a braided line you could have 20 lb test line the same diameter of 6 lb line. Also i would get the smoke color. Be carefull of knots in the line cause if you tighten the knot your not going to get it undone and be carefull of birds nests. Lastly try not to wrap your finger around the line cause one pull its going to slice your fingers.http://www.berkley-fishing.com/prod.php?…
Hope this helps
You will get alot of different opinions on this but here’s mine. When fishing cover especially flipping and pitching I like Florocarbon. Berkley 100% floro is good 12lb will work. I use berkley trilene big game 12lb mono for 90% of fishing. Its a good all purpose line
The reason I use Florocarbon is it has less stretch and is abrasion resistant. I would use atleast 12lb in cover
yup. here’s another opinion. use 8 on the spinning outfit. you will cast better. use a good limp mono like trilene XL.
When fishing heavy cover snags are a big problem.I use Trilene 12lb XL
For bass 17lb , catfish 30-40lb
