I am going fishing in a river off the Chesapeake Bay and I was wondering in what type of spot would I have the best chances? Should I be in deeper water or near the shore? and what time of day is best and what bait should I use? Please help a beginner!

The handle is cork, the reel looks old but in good condition. The pole is hollow which the fishing line goes through.

Is there any where to find fishing line online for cheaper? I don’t mean premium as in the best of the best, but at least brands that have been around, not no name stuff.
I am willing to spend money for decent line but I’d rather look for a deal if possible.
