wat is better a spinning rod or a baitcast ? i also have 50 pound test line and if i take it to gander mtn do u think they would put it on the reel for me?

my girlfriend is going to get me some new line for valentines day. she bought me a spinning setup for worm fishing and a baitcast reel. im gonna get a 7 foot rod for fishing in the weeds and other cover.
i dont know what kind of line i should get with these setups. any help would be awesome

I am going fishing for striped bass/hybrids soon and I am afraid that my rods aren’t beefy enough for them. What kind of rods and reels to you use for stipers? I have a quantum baitcasting combo and a couple spinning reels. I also have some saltwater gear that my grandfather left me. I don’t want to break a rod. Any help you could offer would be appreciated.

I need brand names, and specs on what kind of equipment to get for fishing in the surf in the Texas Gulf Coast. Namely, rod, reel, line weight, weights, etc…the basics for someone with no equip!!!
I don’t have to have top of the line equipment, but I would like to invest in reasonably priced, good equipment that will last. I am aiming to catch red fish, SW trout, pompano, and other medium sized fish out of the surf.
