I’m not quite sure, but I’d say that yes they do. I’ve heard it somewhere. I’m pretty sure that Daiwa makes Cabela’s reels, FYI. I know it’s not a 100% helpful, but may be something.

Hi, I am a bit confused as to the difference between front drag and rear drag on reels and for what type of fishing each is suitable/best for. Also I have been told for float fishing a closed face reel is best but I haven’t seen many people using them, is this true and if so why? Many thanks in advance.

Nowadays, it’s the size and line capacity (and the size of the drag washers). But back when I was a kid, a buddy of mine showed up to fish off the pier with a freshwater reel, while I had my Penn spinning reel of the same size. I used my reel for years — his was good for that one trip — it rusted!
But nowadays, I think all reasonable reels are corrosion-resistant enough to use in the salt.

Spinning Saltwater Reels for jigging lures. I like a reel that is lightweight (8-11 oz) has good line capacity and a loud drag. What are some good makes / models? I recently bought a PFlueger Trion GX-7 which seems like it will work great. However I’d like to get 1 more so that is why I ask for your input.

I am looking for an ultralight reel to pair up with a 4′6′” medium-action St. Croix rod. Does Penn make an ultralight reel (2 to 4 LBS test)? Are Penn reels still American made and what do people think of them? Any suggestions on another reel to pair with my rod? Thank.
