I got 60 lb test spider line now and a spinner reel. Sound good?
Whats a good pole that can:
Not too big reel
Good for red fish
Good for mangrove snapper
Good for yellow tail
Sturdy enough for sharks, reef mainly.
For under USD $50.00
Thanks.
Nowadays, it’s the size and line capacity (and the size of the drag washers). But back when I was a kid, a buddy of mine showed up to fish off the pier with a freshwater reel, while I had my Penn spinning reel of the same size. I used my reel for years — his was good for that one trip — it rusted!
But nowadays, I think all reasonable reels are corrosion-resistant enough to use in the salt.
Rods with guides on top, are they spinning or casting? Or both, cause isn’t a Zebco reel a casting reel, but used on top instead of an open bail witch is used on the bottom? Oh boy, I’ve gone crossed eyed.
all right in a young fishermen who has been fishing for 6 years. I know it all except i cant find the right lure to use in ponds and fishing in lake on shore. Ive fished alot with worms and i know they dont last too long. Somedays would be better then others with normal lures. But what lure is like 80% likely to catch a big fish in about 2 hours?
I want a really nice spincast reel. I want it to last a long time. And work really well. Price doesnt matter. Fishing is my life. Along with hunting.
Mostly fishing Port Philip bay Victoria.
ts? Fishing meaning that they are trying to catch students to come on their church. They will use tactics like being very friendly, provide good food, fun activities, etc.
going to destin on my honeymoon looking to do some surf fishing and was wondering where i might rent a rig for the week also i want to take my wife on a bottom deep sea fishing cruise. Not looking for a 5person charter but more like a 60 person big boat drop the line and reel them in. Ive done it a million times in Myrtle but never been to destin. Also what else would be fun for some young honeymooners?
One day at Pacifica Pier in CA I witnessed the craziest catch ever: In case you don’t know Pacifica Pier is one of the few places where one can catch salmon in the ocean during the right time of year. The Filipinos take over the end of the pier which I suppose is the best spot and we were fishing from the short part of the |- shaped pier so could see the whole thing. Some guy hooked a salmon and began to real it in fiercely because otherwise the sea lions will take it, as if they can’t catch the salmon on their own, but wait until one is hooked to pounce. As the salmon became visible near the pilings and the guy’s buddies were readying the crab net on a long rope to scoop it up, a sea lion appeared, some other buddies started shooting at it with a pellet rifle, the net scooped the salmon but on the end was also a cormorant bird, which if you don’t know dive down into the water, but we never saw it dive in, so it must’ve been down there a long time, then the sea lion got the salmon off and swam away, but the cormorant was hooked onto the line and the whole thing had gotten tangled up in the crab net. So they had to pull it all up and cut the cormorant free.
